Collage and Mixed Media
I’ve always found peace in sketching, painting, photography and just jotting down my ideas. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a creative person. Throughout my professional life I worked for architects, interior designers and furniture designers. I even married a creative thinker, an architect. Together we’ve renovated, designed and built several homes. I find my mind never stops moving, but how do I channel that energy?
Collage and mixed media…
The juxtaposition of elements in collage satisfies my creativity. I integrate my own handmade papers with embellishments, drawings or photography. Each piece is unique. It may tell a story, convey a feeling or sometimes a piece is designed for you to draw your own conclusion.
I feel my quest to be a successful artist has just gotten underway. I plan to continue studying a variety of artistic media and incorporate what I learn into my work. My art is limited only by my imagination.
I am a member of the La Grange Art League and the Midwest Collage Society, the National Collage Society.

Thought Process
I received a call from Judy at the La Grange Art League. They are looking for artists to display in the La Grange Public Library. It's a recycled theme... what better medium than collage! However, before my work could be considered I must pass the LGAL jury/review committee in order to exhibit in the Gallery or at any LGAL sanctioned event, such as the library. For some this isn't a big deal; a formality really. Not for me! I been putting it off because what if no one likes my work? (Really, how insecure is that?) I felt so much better when Judy said, "Laura said your ready". Well ok. Laura has been one of my instructors for the past 2 years. She's great, extremely talented and a very successful artist! Her classes have really pushed me and they stir up all kinds of creative energy. The next day I got the call that I'd been accepted. I'm thrilled! So, this is the piece I'm going to hang in the library. I'm excited to have something of mine hanging in my home town. For me, it's a big deal. THANK YOU LAURA!
